He was predeceased by: his wife Joyce B. Brooks; his daughter Kate King; and his siblings, Eunice Martin and Fenton. He is survived by: his sons, R. L. Brooks (Angela) of La Crosse and John Ashworth (Beth) of South Hill; and his sister Betty Evans (Robert) of Blackstone. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
