He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Leftwich Garrett and Gracie Drinkard Garrett; his wife Andrea "Lou" Swalley Garrett; and his sisters, Viola Brown and Christine Berrell.
He is survived by: his daughters, Lori Davis (Rusty) of Farmville, VA and Tabbi Cifers (Steven) of Amelia, VA; his grandchildren, Taylor, Bryce (Nicole), Andrew (Hayden Davis) and Zachary (Brittany Cifers); and his sisters, Vivian Stricklin of Madison Heights, VA, Virginia Rosser of Farmville, VA and Patsy Bechtold of Norfolk, VA. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
