He was predeceased by: his wife Virginia; his parents, Alvin and Mattie; and his brothers, Tom and Jim Hobgood.

He is survived by: his sons, David Deborah and Howard Jackie Hobgood; his granddaughters, Kimberly Kristofer Goin and Laura Mark Wilkerson; and his great grandchildren, Alexis, LeeAnne, Sydney and Olivia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
