He is survived by: his wife Sarah Ward; his sons, Scottie (Samantha Ward), Jimmie (Shonda Ward) and Chris (Sarah Pridemore); his brother Mark; his sister-in-law Lanora Ward of Max Meadows, Virginia; his sisters, Brenda Denson of Eden, Barbara (Wade Lawson), Martha (Homer Norman), Teresa (Richard Goodman), Rita Blevins of State Road and Donna Ward of Ivanhoe, Virginia.; his grandchildren, Savannah Ward, Austin Ward, McKenzie Ward, Kaylee Ward, James Ward and Jayden Ward; and his close friend Donna Kitts.
