He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Sample and Eula Smith Sample; his wife Patsy Sample; his granddaughter Jacquelyn Sample; his daughter-in-law Nancy Sample; and his sister Betty Sample.
He is survived by: his sons, Eddie Sample of Wytheville, Barry Sample (Juanita) of Abingdon and Joel Sample of Rosedale; his grandchildren, Kelly Sample of Wytheville, Nathan Sample (Francesca) of Roanoke, Neil Sample (Misty) of Abingdon, Caleb Sample (Hannah) of Lebanon and Brandon Sample (Jodi-Lee) of Glade Springs; and his great grandchildren, Halle Elizabeth Roe-Sample, Ashton Crigger, Claire Sample and Oliver Sample.
