With heavy hearts, we announce the death of William Franklin Copeland of Hillsville, Virginia, born in Danville, Virginia, who passed away on November 23, 2022 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Bobbie Hardy Copeland; his parents, Alvin Clark and Lula Catherine Copeland; and his sister Nancy Carolyn. He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia Copeland (Bobby Sumner) and Laurie Porter (Roger); his grandchild Stacy Marshall (Jesse); his great grandchild Katie; his granddaughter Kimberly Kaiko (James); his great grandchild Zachary; his granddaughter Sara Tutor (Joe); his great grandchildren, Colton, Knox, William Griggs (Ashton), Charlotte, Avery and Lauren Silcox (Benjamin); his sister Cathy Compton (Dwight); his nieces and nephews, Cathy Jo Lanter, Jeff, Emma, Addison and Lindsay Brooke Compton (Katelyn); and also, Benjamin and Brooks.
Rotary established the recognition in 1957 to encourage and show appreciation for substantial contributions to what was then the Foundation's only program, Rotary Foundation Fellowships for Advanced Study, the precursor to Ambassadorial Scholarships.
