He was predeceased by: his father Guy Douglas "Jeff" Matherly; and his half-brother Benny Shelton. He is survived by: his mother Lucy Shelton Matherly of Hurt; his wife Karen Bailey Matherly; his stepsons, Shaun Ayers (Susanne) and Shane Ayers (Joy); and his brothers, Doug Matherly of Hurt and Larry Matherly (Peggy Dalton) of Hurt. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren.
