It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lester Ray Smith of Gordonsville, Virginia, born in Lincolnton, North Carolina, who passed away on February 21, 2021, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Julius Smith and Geneva Cline Smith; and his sister Kay Smith Stewart. He is survived by: his wife Debra Champion Smith of Gordonsville; his children, Cathy Hrebinko (Milton) of Fishersville and Lester Ray Smith, Jr. (Emily Poole) of Sherrills Ford, NC; his grandchildren, Alanna Hrebinko and Alan Hrebinko; his sister Kim Smith Houser (Jim) of Lawndale, NC; his nieces and nephews, Erin West (Ned), Elly Houser (Kazem) and Lynn Stewart McCurry (Mike) of Sherrills Ford, NC; his great-nephews, Andrew McCurry (Bailey) and Brad McCurry; and his niece Martha Stewart Middleton (Mark). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
