He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby Carter Peters; his parents, Charles Peters and Martha Ellen Peters; and his siblings, Connor Peters (Katherine), Charles Peters, Marion Peters (Sue), Mildred Catron, Nina Quillen (Edgar) and Alma Martin.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael Peters and Greg; his daughter-in-law Tara Peters; his grandson Ryan Peters of Kingsport, TN; his sister Mary Ann Poling (Gary); and his sons, Timothy and Roy Gibson (Ross). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Holston View Methodist Church.
