He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Mitchell Sloan and Alice Sloan (Rhoton); his siblings, Burley, Glen, Opal McLain, Virginia Clendenin and Mary Wells; and his great grandchild Holden Howard Randolph.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Pierson Sloan; his sons, Randell Sloan (Vicky) and Richard Sloan (Patsy); his siblings, Wilma Jones, Shirley Shelton (John), Juanita Gilliam (Frank) and Olen Sloan; and his close friend Phil Edens. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and a host of lifelong friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Howard's honor to Sloantown Community Church, 202 Halo Dr., Clinchport, VA, 24244.
