With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bessie LaRue (Johnson) Sloan of Gate City, Virginia, who passed away on April 16, 2024 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Elmer and Vertie Geneva Johnson (Falin); her husband James Henry "Jimmy" Sloan; and her sister Inez Johnson Carter. She is survived by: her daughters, Annette Sloan Parker and Anita Sloan; her grandchildren, Marcus Smith and Emily Parker Overton (Orville); her great grandchildren, Uhtred and Finan Overton; her sister Bobbie Johnson Bishop; and her siblings-in-law, Geree Hood Hilliard, Geneve Williams and J. D. Sloan, Jr. (Sandy). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
