He was predeceased by: his parents, James Byrd and Betty Shupe Byrd; and his brother Roger Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Delores Byrd of Galax, Virginia; his children, Amanda Bottomley of Galax, Virginia and Ronald Byrd of Fries, Virginia; his stepdaughter Jennifer (Greg Watson) of Roanoke, Virginia; his sister Patricia Byrd of Fort Washington, Maryland; his sister-in-law Diane Byrd of Fries, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Tyler Bottomley, Makenna Byrd, Elliott Byrd and Roland Byrd. He is also survived by two nieces and one nephew.
