He was predeceased by: his wife Mildred Parks Wirt; his parents, Oscar Robert Wirt and Bertha Jane Woolwine; and his grandson Travis Michael Wirt. He is survived by: his sons, Michael Robert Wirt of Galax, Virginia and Oscar "Buddy" Wirt of Dublin; his stepchildren, Lisa Parks Galloway of Charlotte and Mark Jason Parks of Blacksburg, Virginia; his grandchildren, Kory Wirt, Audrey Wirt, TJ Wirt, Ben Wirt Jr., Michael Galloway, Grace Galloway, Megan Parks and Amanda Parks; and his friend Tony Quesenberry.
