Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Doris Lucille Sawyers of Galax, Virginia, who passed away at the age of 100, on August 12, 2023. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Franklin and Clara June Shockley Surratt; her husband Rev. Gilbert Oakley Sawyers; her son Steve Sawyers; and her brothers, Elmer Surratt, Conrad Surratt (Buddy) and Ken Surratt.
She is survived by: her children, Betty Spence Utt of Low Gap, Rev. David R. Sawyers of Indiana and Rev. Jerry (Connie Sawyers); her siblings, Melda Hill of Galax, Virginia and Clayton; and her sister-in-law Patsy Surratt of Roanoke, Virginia. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 445 Poplar Knob Road in Galax, Virginia.
