He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Shields and Sally Elizabeth Boyer Atkins; his wife Marian Funk Atkins; and his siblings, Myrtle (Bruce Jones) of Virginia, Annie Mae (Eugene Luper), Munsey James (Nell Atkins), Paul Edward (Clara Atkins) and Daniel Dane (Rubye Atkins).
He is survived by: his daughter Arlene Atkins Morgan; his son-in-law Dennis Lee Morgan of Fries, Virginia; his grandsons, Daniel Lee Morgan (Kiesi) and Michael Wayne Morgan (Erica); and his great grandchildren, Kayla Morgan, Ryan Morgan, Christopher Morgan, Jonathan Morgan and Connor Morgan.
