He is survived by: his daughter Mary Akers (James); and his siblings, Carolyn Jones of Fries and Fred Jennings of Fries. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to the Grayson VFW Post 7726, 115 Klondike Road, Independence, Va. 24348.
