It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of William Lee Whitley of Franklin, Virginia, who passed away on July 6, 2022, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie L. Whitley and Thelma Barrett Whitley; and his granddaughter Anna Whitley. He is survived by: his sons, William L. "Bill" Whitley, Jr. (Janet) and Bradley R. "Brad" Whitley (Lisa); his grandchildren, Devon, Derrick, Devonne, Erin Whitley and Ashley Works (Martin); and his great grandchildren, Derrick Jr., Josiah, Empress and Donnie.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM on Friday, July 15 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Lewis F. Morris Scholarship, c/o The Suffolk Foundation, 110 West Finney Ave., Suite 100, Suffolk, VA 23434.
