He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Butler Freeman Sykes and Dora Alice Jones Sykes; his siblings, Myrl Davidson, Dora Mae Lynn, Edward, CJ, Buddy and Norwood Sykes; and his son-in-law Rob Councill.
He is survived by: his wife Veronica Dillman "Vera" Sykes; his children, Deborah Councill Hewett (Gary) and Stanley Sykes (Donna); his grandchildren, Courtney C. Williamson (Stephen), Whitney C. Hardin (Michael), Bridget S. Parr (Philip) and Dustin Sykes; and his great grandchildren, Olivia Williamson, Waylen Parr and Bodhi Hardin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church Building Fund.
