He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Cleveland Flythe and Lucille Davis Flythe; and his brother Paul Fleetwood Flythe. He is survived by: his significant other Mary Ann; his sons, Walt (Kim) and Chris (Wendy); his grandsons, Cole and Brady; and his stepgrandchildren, Patrick, Peyton, Ashton and Caroline. He is also survived by children, golfing with his friends and fishing with his sons, grandsons, and friends.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Franklin Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
