He was predeceased by: his mother Blanche Sheffield; his stepfather Robert L Sheffield; and his brother James L. King, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Maxine Pulley King; his children, Timothy Kevin King, Karen Lynn King-Jones, Lisa King Park (Christopher) and Laurie King Klakamp (Don); his grandchildren, Roger Jones Jr. (Nikki), Richard Gann, Gary Jones (Karen), Timothy Jones (Kathy) and Shelby Park; and his great grandchildren, Skyler Heath-Jones, Greyson Jones and Reagan Jones.

In Lieu of flowers the family request donations to Kill Devil Hills NC Fire and Rescue Dept.
