He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil J. Wells and Vivian Lyle Wells; and his stepson Donald Kirby. He is survived by: his wife Peggy "Penny" Smith Wells; his children, Doug Wells, Theresa Perdue (Jay) of Covington and Sharon Wells of Millboro; and his stepdaughter Lisa Horton (Greg) of Clifton Forge.
