She was predeceased by: her parents, John Robert and Bertie Clark Leighton; her husband Emmett Garland Thompson; and her brothers, Howard, Robert "Bob" and Wilbur "Bo" Leighton.
She is survived by: her children, Bonnie Thompson Blackburn and Barry G. Thompson (Linda); her grandchildren, Tammy Blackburn (Robert Schell), Tracy Ziebell (Matthew), Tanya Blackburn (Andrew Sheppard), Mandy Agnew (Barry), Jason Thompson (Allison) and Joshua Thompson (Sara); her great grandchildren, Gideon Agnew and Ember Thompson; her sister-in-law Joyce Leighton; and her close friend Larry Akers. She is also survived by many other family members and friends.
