He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen H. Smith and Nancy Smith; and his siblings, Steve Smith and Nancy Gjerlow. He is survived by: his wife Sandy; his daughter Laura Dichter (Scott); his grandchildren, Roy, Jr. (Megan), Max, Ryan and Kelly; and his brother Donald Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
