She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Frank and Hattie Bell Sands; and her siblings, Evangeline Pulliam, Bettye Jean Crutchfield, Geneva Tucker, Willie James and John Henry Sands.
She is survived by: her husband Joseph P. Hester; her children, Marsha Terrell, Bonita Hester, Brian "Keith" Hester (Debra) and Michael Hester (Wendell); her grandchildren, Aisha, Khalilah, Samirah, LeCedric, Nadiyah, Khadijah, Jomian, Desmond, Darius and Markese; her great grandchildren, Malik, Kamira, Iyanna, Leo and Isaac; and her aunt Mattie Odemns. She is also survived by other loving relatives and caring friends.
