It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ernest Eugene Matney of Buchanan, Virginia, who passed away on March 29, 2022, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Ollie Matney Stacy; his grandparents, Wade and Elizabeth Betsy Matney; his wife Betty Jo Matney (Gilbert); his siblings, Eddie Stacy, Roger Stacy, Junior Stacy and Lois Shell; his children, Sherry Jo Varney (Chris) of Cincinnati, OH, Ernest Matney Jr. (Tootsie) of Vansant, VA and Malynda Belcher (Eric) of Vansant, VA; his grandchildren, Latisha Villanti, Sarah Nicole Kepf (Nathan), Christopher Shawn Eugene Varney (Samantha), Brittan Murray (Michael) and Sophia Rayne Belcher; his great grandchildren, Michael Villanti, Henry Ernest Kepf, Damien Murray and Quentin Murray; his half-brother Harold Davis; and his close friend Janie DeLung. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
