He was predeceased by: his parents, James E. Armes, Sr. and Hazel Hicks Armes; his son Thomas M. Armes, Jr.; and his grandson Tyler S. Newton. He is survived by: his wife Judith F. "Judy" Bell; his children, Katherine A. Spencer (Paul), Kay N. Smith (Donnie), Renee K. Hodges (Ricky) and Jay Newton (Tia); his grandchildren, Samantha (Nav), Leander Spencer, Nicholas Spencer, Kellie R. Hodges, Jayde F. Hodges, Caiden J. Hodges, Donevan I. Knight, Katelyn M. Knight and Makayla Ferris (Dylan); his great grandchildren, Bella and Carson; and his siblings, James E. Armes (Chris), Phillip Armes and Jeanette Tarlton (James). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
