We are sad to announce that on May 5, 2022, at the age of 88, Robert Hayes Giles Jr. of Blacksburg, Virginia, born in Lynchburg, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Wilson Burnette Giles; his parents, Anna Rinsland Giles Trevey and Robert Hayes Giles, Sr.; his stepmother Edith Lohr Giles; and his parents-in-law, Wilbert Glenn Burnette and Mary Thigpen Burnette.
He is survived by: his brother George Giles (Lena); his stepsister Susan Lohr Hudson; his brother-in-law W. Gaines Burnette (Peggy); his cousins, Kay Hughes and John Irvin; his daughters, Anne Giles and Margaret Galecki; his sons-in-law, Dennis Galecki, Mark Wiley, Brad Rimbey and Iain Clelland; his grandson Alan Wiley (Mary "Woo" Wiley); his great grandchild Dottie; his grandchildren, Ben Wiley and Mary Teague (Chad); his great grandchild Raine; his grandson James Galecki (Renee); his great grandchildren, Logan and Liam; his granddaughters, Caroline Galecki and Catherine Galecki; his friend Caleb Flood; and also, Beau, Mills, Betty Jo Everett, Bill and Lois Patterson. He is also survived by children and grandchildren.
He donated his body to science to help researchers further understand these disabling disorders.
