With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Homer Edward Barnett of Blacksburg, Virginia, who passed away on April 23, 2023 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Barnett and India Perkins Barnett; his former wife Nancy Shaver Barnett; his wife Betty Jo Barnett; his siblings, Walter (Elise), Luther (Dorothy), Eugene, Elenora Barnett (Luther), Julie Millen (Don), Francis Hassele (Luther) and Lorraine Mccoy (AC); and his sister-in-law Bessie Barnett.
He is survived by: his daughter Brenda; his son-in-law Mike Dowdy of Pembroke; his stepsons, Steve Shaver (Debbie) of Myrtle Beach, Jeff Shaver and David Shaver; his siblings, Lois Ramsey of Blacksburg and Frank Barnett of Camden, NC; his sister-in-law Sandy Barnett; his granddaughter Rachel Shaver of New York; his niece Judy Cooper (Buddy); and his nephew Randy (Leigh) of Christiansburg. He is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
