He was predeceased by: his parents, Presley Ashley and Christine Ashley; his former wife Doris Jean Gilley Ashley; his siblings, Hubert Ashley (Shirley), Paul Ashley (Ruby) and Mary Wright (James); and his siblings-in-law, Helmut Englert (Helga) and Charlotte Siegler (Gottlieb).
He is survived by: his children, Ken Ashley (Denise) of Bassett, Mark Ashley of Bassett, Barbara Wren (David) of North Charleston, S. C. and Catherine Cardwell (Phillip) of Martinsville; his siblings, Curtis Ashley (Rita), Herman Ashley (Davanna), Wayne Ashley (Ada), Hattie Campbell (Bob) and Layne Lusk (Ronnie); and his siblings-in-law, Rudy Englert (Sonja) and Waltraud Dombrowski (Robert). He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
