He was predeceased by: his parents, James Irvin Seay Sr. and Cora Holt Seay; his wife Essie May Seay; his daughter Libby Seay; and his siblings, Blanche Dudley, Mildred Ramsey, Herman Seay, Elmer Seay, Talmadge Seay and James Seay.

He is survived by: his children, Teresa Lawson (David), J. Allison Seay, Stacey Keatts (Ricky), Sara Seay, Buck Seay and Marshall Seay (Lois); and his siblings, Alice Brown and Ira Seay. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends.
