He was predeceased by: his parents, Veronica Ferguson and Nick Martin; and his sisters, Diana Bailey and Barbara Tatum. He is survived by: his daughter Jessica D. "Jess" Martin (Rebecca Tang) of North Garden, Virginia; and his siblings, Kermit Martin, Jeannette Crum, Sharon Hall, Brenda Gibson, Gary Martin, Barry Martin and Theresa "Tootsie" Shepherd. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
