With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Nora Mae D. Martin (Axton, Virginia), who passed away on March 21, 2022 at the age of 103. She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Deering and Lettie Ruth Carter Deering; her husband James A. Martin, Sr.; her son Richard Martin; and her siblings, Myrtle Deering-Davis, Everette Deering, Roman Deering, Rufus Deering, Waverly Deering and William Deering.

She is survived by: her children, Bernice Hughes (Billy) of Burlington, NC, Iniease Dillard (Joe) of Axton, VA, Merita Smith (William) of Axton, VA and James A. Martin, Jr. (Patricia) of Martinsville, VA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; she is loved by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required.
