It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joseph W. Smith of Altavista, Virginia, born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, who passed away on August 2, 2020, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Marie F. Smith; and his brother Walter C. Smith of Houston, TX.. He is survived by: his brother Theodore Smith of Allentown, PA; his children, Michael J. Smith (Crystal) of Concord, NC, Mary S. Hamlett (Samuel) of Rustburg, VA and Patty S. Patterson (Troy) of Gallatin, TN; and also Patrice Mangers. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests friends consider donating to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Boy's Town, St. Victoria Catholic Church, or to the charity of your choice in memory of Joseph W. Smith.
