He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Houston; his children, Carrie Montoya, Heidi Maynard, Amy Richards, Justin Patterson and Samuel Houston III; his grandson Sam; his nephews, Troy (Amy), Paul (Elizabeth) and Cameron (Amanda); and his close friend Richard.
