He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Gardner and Marian Gunn Gardner; and his grandchildren, Ashlyn Faye Gardner and Harrison John Lyon. He is survived by: his wife Jacque; his children, Carrie Reed (Dave), Tara Johnson (Heath), Jared Gardner (Shauna), Paige Lyon (John), Casey Hansen (Michael) and Stephanie Gardner; and his siblings, Marilyn Neerings (John), Karren Bowen (Dave), Paul Gardner (Janet) and Ann Meriwether. He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
