He was predeceased by: his parents, George W. Johnson and Jessie Ioma Hartman Johnson; his former wife Gladys Johnson; his son Earl Wayne Johnson; his siblings, Wayne Johnson and Mildred Irene Andrews; and his grandmother Viola Hartman Parker.

He is survived by: his wife Vera Johnson; his pet Gabby of Woodville; his daughter Tena Sonnier (Larry) of Nacogdoches; his siblings, Earl Johnson (Loyce) of Hawkins, Sue Fonville (John) of Bullard and Frances Armstrong (Gary) of Camden, SC; his grandsons, Jared Ray Martin (Krista) of Woodville and Josh Tyler Latham of Woodville; and his great grandchildren, Raylee Martin of Woodville and Stetson Latham of Mineola. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
