He is survived by: his brother Joe Yates; his wife Dessanne Bumstead of Woodville; his daughters, Charity Lott of Whitehouse, Candi Cochrum (Kevin) of Houston and Chrissi Bumstead of Woodville; his sisters, Shirley Marie "Sirsey" Samford (Bobby) of Temple and Melba Ruth "Cookie" Byrd of Gilmer; and his grandchildren, Colton Reddin, Kyler Price, Holdon Lott, Karleigh Price, Chelle Arceneaux and Halo Bumstead.
