He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Newton Murphy, Sr. and Thelma Bernice Duvall; his son Mike; his wife Lynne; and his siblings, Richard Wayne "Buddy" Murphy and Bonnie Jean Murphy.
He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Sheryl of Roanoke; his children, Larry Murphy (Sandy) of The Villages, David Murphy (Laura Benzenhoefer) and Kay Murphy of Waco; his grandchildren, Chad Murphy (Michelle) of Corinth, Eric Murphy of Lake Worth, Heather Murphy of Waco and Shelby Murphy of Roanoke; and his great grandchildren, Hunter Murphy, Paige Murphy, Addison Murphy, Isaiah Murphy and Cody Murphy.
