He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Cole and Katherine Cole; his siblings, Janice Cowart, Marjorie Alice Cole and Wayne Cole; and his mother-in-law Shirley Whitehead.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Cole of Tulia; his brother Fred Cole (Charlene) of Amarillo; his siblings-in-law, Kenny and Sharon Hughes of Plainview; and his father-in-law Wilton Whitehead of Tulia. He is also survived by six nieces and one nephew.
