He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Nelson and Verdie Nelson; his wife Shirley Brumley; his sons, Leon and Allen; and his siblings, Leroy, George, Ronnie and Mary.
He is survived by: his children, Jimmie Nelson (Jackie) of Sunray, TX and Sebrina Brown (Michael) of Sunray, TX; his grandchildren, James, Jacob, Travis, Misty and Heidi; and his sisters, Ruth, Phyllis, Margie, Esther and Julie. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
