He is survived by: his daughter Peggy; his son-in-law Rodney Hale of Tarzan, TX; his son Gary; his daughter-in-law Rhonda Barnes of Abilene, TX; his grandchildren, Brandi (Ryan Grant), Joshua (Emily Barnes), Heather (Jobe Christon) and Krista (Jarrett Owens); and his brother Donal Barnes of Mineral Wells. He is also survived by his 12 great grandchildren.
