He is survived by: his former wife Candace Rubner; his wife Candace "Candy" Clayton of Stamford; his sons, John (Toby Clayton) and Ryan (Crystal Clayton); his grandchildren, Bethany, Timothy Biggs of Tuscola, Dana Clayton of Wichita Falls, Candace Clayton of Stamford, Chelsea Wall of Stamford, Frankie Chaires of Stamford, Paige Wall of Stamford, Gwen Clayton of Lubbock, Riley Ellison of Eula and Michael Dale of Abilene; his great grandchildren, Mason Biggs, Samuel Chaires, Ariana Chaires and Paisley Lara; his siblings, Johnny (Chris Conger), Jackie (Shiela Conger) and Teresa; his brother-in-law Marty Sanders of Cisco; and his uncles, Felton Stone of Poolville, Orville of Poolville and Pat Stone of Poolville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
