He is survived by: his wife Norma Jean Severe Vanbiber; his sister Loretta Faye Carson; his children, Russell Carl Vanbiber III, Craig Alan Vanbiber (Jamie Gautreau Vanbiber) and Scott Evan Vanbiber (Melissa Daniels Vanbiber); his grandchildren, Russell Vanbiber IV, Linda Vanbiber, Rebecca Vanbiber, Hannah Vanbiber Wagner (Ben Vanbiber Wagner), Sarah Vanbiber Yepishin (Sergei Yepishin), Sam Vanbiber and Zack Vanbiber; and his great grandchildren, Isaiah, Simon and Mila Yepishin. He is also survived by his three sons, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
