He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearl Sterling and T. J. Sterling; his wife Billie Jo Kennedy; his son Donald Howard; his son-in-law Merle Blosser; his great grandchild Holden Erwin; and his brothers, J. M., Buford, Curtis and Tommy Jr. Howard.
He is survived by: his daughters, Connie (Doug) and Leigh Ann (Randy); his grandchildren, Shea, Heath, Brooke (Tyler), John (Carrie) and Chet; his great grandchildren, J. R. (Alex), Scout, Cutter, Caul, Shelbi, Emerson, Griffin, Grey, Sawyer, Rose and Collins; his great great grandchild Luke; and his siblings, Mickey Sterling and Doris Spikes.
