He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Leal and Maria Leal (Garza); his wife Criselda "Cris" Leal (Serna); his son Jaime S. Leal; his granddaughter Chris Marie Alvarado; and his siblings, Laurencio, Lucia, Guadalupe, Richard, Adolfo and Eugenio.

He is survived by: his children, Hector S. Leal, Nora Alvarado (Johnny), Regina Leal-Vandervort, Melissa Leal Tey (Carlos) and Denise Leal Rangel (Benjamin); his daughter-in-law Rosemary Leal; his sisters, Herlinda Sotelo and Esther Toscano; his grandchildren, Isaac Leal (Melanie), Melinda Ortiz, Hector Leal, Jr. (Esperanza), Jaime Leal, Dana Margio (Paolo), Carolyn Rodriguez (Joe), Marisela Elizondo (Adrian), Sirena Lopez (Rafael), Amber Mendez (Carlos), Makayla Tey, Nicholas Tey, Ryan Rangel and Rayn Rangel; his great grandchildren, Alexander, Elizabeth, Isaac, Jr., Jesse, Jaime, Christopher, Joseph, Jocelyn, Jayden, Stephanie, Trey, Alicia and Victoria; and his great great grandchildren, Kastiel, Jon-David, Erza, Xavier and Mason. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
