He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Clarence Coleman Cox and Hugh Jean Clifton Cox; his wife Patricia Hatchel of Sanger; his children, Natalie (Wayne Emert) of Bolivar, James Cox Jr. (Heather) of Justin and Amy Cox of Denton; his sister Dana Cox Funk (Fred) of Aubrey; his grandchildren, Chloe Cox, Meredith Emert, Cole Emert of Bolivar, Clara and Lily Cox of Justin; and his great grandchild Jaxon of Bolivar.
