He is survived by: his sons, Scouting, Philmont Scout Ranch and Eagle Scout; his wife Edelmira Smithwick of Corpus Christi; his sons, Adolfo "Duffy" Ibañez III of Missouri City and Sam Martin Smithwick (Rachael "Shelly") of Corpus Christi; and his siblings, Adan Smithwick (Estela) of Corpus Christi and Eva Waring of Robstown. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
