He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan Luna and Pola Luna; and his brother Juan Manuel Luna. He is survived by: his wife Beatrice R. Luna; his children, Ricardo D. Luna (Cecilia), Robert Luna (Patty), Rodolfo G. Luna (Lamar), Roel F. Luna (Diana) and Nora A. Luna; and his siblings, Salvador Luna (San Juana), Rufino Luna, Sr., Rosa Torres, Guadalupe Saenz (Ramiro), Margarita Trevino and Fela Garza.
