He was predeceased by: his adoptive father Mariano Benavides; his parents, Jose De La Rosa and Gregoria Perez; and his grandmother Paulita Gonzalez. He is survived by: his wife Adriana G. Benavides; his children, Marcos De La (Victoria Cotton) and Marina Leila Castillo; his stepsons, David C. Lopez, Jr. (Stephanie) of San Diego and Eduardo "Eddie" Lopez (Cheryl Furney) of San Diego; and his siblings, Jose De La (Magdalena), Melva Lopez, Angelica Perez and Adelina Trigo (Roel). He is also survived by grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
