He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose M. Hernandez and Rosa Silva Hernandez; his daughter Rosa Margarita Ramos; his siblings, Edelmiro Hernandez, Ramiro Hernandez and Maria Estela Oliveira; and his children-in-law, Jesus Olivares and Erica Ramos.
He is survived by: his wife Maria Antonia Hernandez; his children, Jose A. Hernandez, Jr. (Idalia), John Eric Ramos (Aurora), Cynthia R. Hernandez, Irene M. Olivares (Tony Garza) and Evangelina Torres (Rodolfo); and his siblings, David Hernandez (Barbara), Dora Almonte (Joe) and Lydia Garza. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
